Traditional Welsh working dogs are being ditched in favour of a Paris Hilton-type trend for toy dogs, experts are warning.
The Welsh terrier, Sealyham terrier, and Cardigan corgi, which were once common working dogs as well as pets, are now getting fewer, with registered numbers falling worryingly low.
Factors in the breeds' decline include toy dogs such as Chihuahuas and Shihtzus, as seen in the arms of IT girl heiress Paris Hilton and pop star Geri Halliwell, becoming more popular.
