Say the word cookies and most of us see visions of warm and chewy treats studded with chunks of chocolate chips. The chocolate chip cookie reigns as America's cookie king, tempting us to settle within this culinary comfort zone.
I'm not immune to the attraction.
While bakers remain loyal to recipes they can rely on to deliver consistent results, sometimes it's more important to explore new territory. The "tried-and-true" holds value, but so does the adventurous experience offered by unusual combinations of our favorite ingredients.
Always on the lookout for a different dessert, I discovered a plate of cookies ...
