Texas liberals, who sometimes seem pathologically eager to support losers, should recruit the one person in their midst who could win the U.S. Senate seat up for grabs next year: Molly Ivins.
Now that you've had your laugh, the truth is probably beginning to dawn: Yeah ... she could win, and liberals should, if necessary, drug, shanghai and otherwise force her to file by the January 3 deadline. Look at her chief Democratic opponents: Jim Mattox, a worthy populist but coated with enough mud to make his electability doubtful; Representative Mike Andrews, a homogenized protege of Lloyd Bentsen; and Richard Fisher, who is everything you would expect a Dallas ...
