Crosslake, Minn. -- You can be in places other than north-central Minnesota in the first half of June, but no better places. Thursday morning the sun was barely up when I left the cabin, thinking this. My bike felt good beneath me and I pedaled the six miles into town for a cup of coffee and a look at the paper.
I've been up here this week and will be here a few more days. On Tuesday, Bill Marchel and I were on Mille Lacs, pitching smallmouth baits.
