Jun. 16--IOWA FALLS -- Kayla Jaenke gripped her teddy bear as a naval officer knelt and handed her a folded American flag, the flag that had draped the casket of her mother, at her mother's grave site in Alden. She didn't cry. Nine-year-old Kayla remained solemn. She stayed strong. Her mother, Naval Petty Officer 2nd Class Jaime Jaenke, 29, of Iowa Falls, was killed in Iraq. She and a sailor from Illinois died June 5 in the Al Anbar province when the Humvee they were traveling in was hit by an improvised explosive device. She was the first woman from Iowa, and 38th member of the armed forces from the state, to die in Iraq. ...
