* Control of carbon black emission in rubber manufacture has challenged the performance capabilities of existing wet scrubbing technology. Solid residues in the dust and fume emitted during rubber mixing include not just carbon black but also a blend of waste products--natural and synthetic rubbers, oils waxes and powders. These bind together to form a dense sticky mass. Most wet scrubbing systems for particle collection are not up to the job of cleaning this material up.
Tests have shown that a new wet curtain spray type of scrubbing technology can overcome some of the deficiencies of existing technology.
