The Bush Administration has announced its intention of cutting a program that provides free breast and cervical cancer screening for low-income, working women. The National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program is administered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its mandate is to provide screening and other preventive heath services to low-income women who are underinsured or who lack health insurance entirely.
