An eight-year study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (2006;295:655-666), the results of which were circulated extensively in the media, concluded that reducing total fat intake and increasing intakes of vegetables, fruits, and grains did not significantly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, or cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women.
