Jun. 19--Ben Roethlisberger says he understands his good fortune surviving a face-to-windshield meeting with a Chrysler New Yorker last week. A day after departing the hospital, the 24-year-old Super Bowl winning quarterback pointed to a "new perspective on life." He pledged to wear a helmet if he ever rides a motorcycle again.
How fortunate was he? It is little short of a miracle that his injuries, as serious as they are, didn't leave him permanently disabled, or worse.
As it is, Roethlisberger will have several teeth replaced after his broken nose, jaw and gashed forehead heal. If the likelihood is he will lead the Pittsburgh Steelers this fall as the ...
