Jun 19, 2006 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Mike Kelly is the chief information officer for the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The organiser of the World Cup soccer tournament in Germany in mid-June 2006 has assembled the largest-ever converged communications network at any sporting event, only to take it apart again once the final match has been played. The network incorporates over 40,000 internet protocol-enabled devices, some 40 data switches and 656 wireless access points.
