It never ceases to amaze me when I get reader mail something like, "Dear Teisco, I recently purchased one of your guitars, a red Spectrum 5. What's it worth?" Then I realize that no matter how many times I recap various chapters of Teisco history and explain that I had nothing to do with the company (other than stealing its name), there will always be new readers who assume that the name on the instrument is akin to the signature of the guy in the magazine. Well, Teiscos were around before I was born, let alone contemplating appropriating their name. And "Del Rey" was tacked on by Chicago importer Barry Hornstein of WMI in the mid '60s.
