Chicago -- Arthroscopic decompression for hip impingement can prolong the careers of professional athletes with hip pain, according to a study presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
"In our study, 93% of athletes returned to professional play following arthroscopic decompression of femoroacetabular impingement," said Dr. Marc J. Philippon, an orthopedic surgeon with the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colo.
