According to "Bahrain Tribune", people who accidentally kill others without any premeditation or intent would not initially come under the Shari'a punishment of paying blood money (diah) to victims' families or losing their own lives. The Shura Council rejected Deputy Ali Mattar's amendments to Article 342 of the Penal Code, highlighting violations of amendments to human rights principles. The rejection would be final if parliament reconsiders its decision or a joint session votes in its favor.
