Bakersfield shuts down Ports.

Jun. 22--STOCKTON -- The Stockton Ports were riding the wave of a five-game winning streak, but it came crashing down on them early on Wednesday night.

The Bakersfield Blaze thwarted the Ports' chances of a sweep by smashing them 15-1 in front of 2,477 fans at Stockton Ballpark. The Blaze tagged the freshly demoted Mike Madsen for eight runs in 22/3 innings and cruised from there.

It was a tough day for the Ports all around as they lost outfielder Richie Robnett to a promotion to Triple-A Sacramento. Robnett hit 11 home runs and had 38 RBI for Stockton in 69 games this season. Robnett had a .358 on-base-percentage, slugged .434 and struck ...
