Jun. 24--KINGWOOD -- Kingwood celebrated its 10th year as part of the Main Street program Friday evening in a setting and manner reflective of the things the program strives to preserve -- with local businesses providing services in a tasteful, historic setting.
The hard cash numbers behind the celebration were pretty nice, too. Main Street Kingwood Director Robyn Hess said when the organization formed in 1996, public and private investment in the downtown was estimated at $62,000. At the end of 2004, it was estimated at $9,589,476.
