Jun. 24--ELIDA -- They are marking 150 years of staying true to their beliefs. And for the folks at Marion Baptist Church, clinging to those truths is what keeps them together, and growing.
"We've stayed true to the word of God. We don't do anything that modern churches say you have to do to draw people to church. We don't entertain," said Charles Plikerd, a long-time member of the church.
"We have a pastor who preaches hard. It's not a social gospel he preaches, but people come back," Plikerd said, smiling. Membership rests at 130 people each Sunday.
