About 800 learners at a North West school were to be formally informed about the deaths at the weekend of their principal and 12 teachers.
When their teachers wished them happy holidays on Friday, little did pupils at Diphetogo Primary School in Montshiwa township, Mafikeng, know they were seeing the last of their principal and half the teaching staff.
The teachers and their principal, Dipuo Mocumi, died in a road accident near Lichtenburg while travelling to a funeral of the deputy principal's mother in Madidi near Pretoria at about 4am on Saturday.
