Santa Fe Province covers 133 000 square kilometers (51 350 square miles) and has 2.8 million inhabitants. It is completely flat and has no mountains of any significance. A large part of this province forms part of the Chaco-Pampa plains. It is dominated by the Rio Parana along which are many flood-prone areas.
Santa Fe Province shares borders to the north with Chaco Province, to the west with Santiago del Estero and Cordoba, to the south with Buenos Aires, and to the east with Entre Rios and Corrientes.
