Adventrx Pharmaceuticals Inc., of San Diego, began a pivotal Phase III trial of its chemotherapy-enhancing drug, CoFactor, in metastatic colorectal cancer. It will randomize 1,200 patients to two arms containing either CoFactor or leucovorin, each in combination with 5-FU and Avastin (bevacizumab, from Genentech Inc.). The primary endpoint is progression-free survival, and secondary endpoints include response rates, overall survival and the incidence and severity of adverse events.
