Jun. 30--Campus officials weren't sure until this week if they'd be able to stage Colorado State University-Pueblo's annual fireworks show Tuesday night, but the governor's office has cleared the way for it.
Russ Meyer, the university's interim provost, said that the fireworks show came close to being called off. "The governor, rightly, issued an executive order about not having fireworks on state property," he said, "and we took that to include - in spirit if not in absolute letter - the university. Given that the Fourth of July celebration is such a huge event, we tried to see if there was something we could do."
