Looking back at the year behind us I made an inventory of the most important feats and the least impressive deeds of the CD-ROM marketplace in 1993. The list is not based on any formal survey. Rather, it is based on my own experiences as a columnist, teacher, and user who eats CD-ROMs for breakfast, attends many conferences, workshops, exhibitions, installs and uses any CD-ROM database that comes his way, talks to CD-ROM database publishers, software producers, hardware manufacturers, and teachers and preaches the technology to librarians and end-users alike.
