This year our sister publication "Shotgun News," the oldest title in the Primedia Outdoors group, celebrates its 60th anniversary. It's come a long way from a mimeographed sheet of classified ads to one of the top titles in the firearms field.
In 1946 a young Nebraska veteran named Crawford G. Snell was working as a postman and casting about for a civilian career. He recalled that his fellow soldiers had two main conversational topics during the war: girls and guns.
Figuring he knew more about the latter than the former, Snell started a newspaper in Columbus, Nebraska, that he called "Shotgun News." At first, the paper just catered to individual ...
