SMC Networks last week announced its TigerSwitch 1000 SMC8024L2, a 24-port 10/100/1000Mbps managed LAN switch aimed at
small and midsize companies. The SMC8024L2, which can be managed via SNMP and includes a Web-based management interface, could
be deployed as a workgroup switch for users or as a backbone device connecting small-business servers. The switch costs $700,
or about $30 per triple-speed Ethernet port.
Ranch Networks says its latest box can load-balance and provide failover for the open source Asterisk IP PBX platform. The
