Purveyors of inexpensive open source IP PBXs last are upgrading their software to include better integration with traditional
circuit-switched phone networks, which could encourage larger deployments.
The two notable open source IP PBX platforms, Asterisk and sipX , initially were meant to provide VoIP support to hundreds
of phones, but certain implementations have reached thousands, vendors of the products say.
