VDUs: our method is madness
O In asking if it is possible that VDUs cause cataracts (Letters, 29 June), David Clark is wrong to liken this issue to the debate about mobile phones and brain tumours.
The mobile phone debate is based on the technology and its output. The VDU discussion would centre on company health and safety policies, and jobs that require people to sit in front of a VDU all day. If there is a problem with VDUs, it is not the technology, but the work methods. A better comparison would be with repetitive strain injury (RSI).
We look back a generation and wonder why our parents worked with asbestos. I bet in a generation's time ...
