THE role of the Air Quality Forum, under the umbrella of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business, will be to provide guidance to industry and not to function as a policing body, a function that will - by law - be carried out by local and provincial government.

Chamber Chief Executive Officer Andrew Layman said yesterday that a review of the way Pietermaritzburg's Air Quality Forum was structured had been prompted by changes in legislation.
