Legal advisor rules oversight role doesn't present conflict
A Los Angeles County government attorney has decided that members of a Hollywood Metro Rail advisory committee may bid on and be awarded contracts from the $27-million mitigation fund the committee "monitors."
The committee was formed to offer recommendations on measures that should be taken to mitigate the disruptive impacts of Metro Rail construction in Hollywood.
The opinion issued by the County Counsel's office outraged Metro Rail critics, who said it amounts to a blanket invitation to government corruption.
