If one were to believe the claims made in TV commercials, every over-the-counter pain relief medication is clearly superior to every other similar product available. Faced with these claims, as well as the hundreds of pain relievers filling the shelves of our pharmacies and supermarkets, the American public is thoroughly confused--and paying dearly for it.
Many of these hundreds of products are labeled as if they are specific for certain types of pain headache, sinus, back, etc. The truth is that there are only three pain-relieving drugs available without a prescription: aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen.
