In palmier days, I used to be asked to edit such personal things as "For Sale" announcements for the bulletin board outside the cafeteria, posters for somebody's soccer league, and advertisements for people's on-the-side companies. Nowadays I do a lot of resume cleaning-up. But regardless of the times, occasional editing for coworkers is always an unadvertised aspect of the technical writin' life.
Considerable diplomatic skills are required when you hand back an editing job to someone who's been out of school for a while. He may blanch at the sight of the sea of little red marks that you have so conscientiously provided. He may even get testy.
