Jul. 8--Flush with approval of $6.3 million in funds by TxDOT Aviation for construction of a 7,000-foot runway, Ector County's Schlemeyer Field may get plans off the ground for a major airport improvement project in coming months. Projects already discussed or on the drawing board will cost in excess of $7,680,343 with Ector County's part of that being at least $1,380,343. The projects include the new runway, a $600,000 terminal building earmarked for fiscal year 2009, new fuel station, signage and lighting, spraying program for weeds and grass, and crack sealing for asphalt.In past commissioner's meetings, it was noted at least $400,000 ...
