SAN MATEO, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Broderbund Software Inc. (NASDAQ: BROD) today announced that the two companies have signed a definitive agreement to merge.  The merge is expected to be completed by the end of May 1994 and is subject to approval by the stockholders of each company and other customary conditions. 
The holders of Broderbund common stock will receive 1.6 common shares of Electronic Arts' common stock for each share of Broderbund common stock in a transaction valued at approximately $400 million.
