The relocation of wild dogs in South Africa to strengthen the viability of populations in particularly small reserves has suffered a temporary setback following the failure of a project undertaken between Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal earlier this year.
Wild dog conservationists are seeking answers as to why a pack of 17 male dogs, and a yearling female, rejected four females introduced to the Venetia Limpopo Nature Reserve four months ago, and why a similar situation appeared to have arisen in Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Park in KwaZulu-Natal.
