NEW YORK: Mobile content provider Handango has named Abelson Group as AOR as it tries to build awareness and move its branding message mainstream.

Handango, which competes with portals like Durham, NC-based Motricity and, to a lesser extent, with Kansas City, MO-based Handmark, offers mobile phone users the ability to download third-party software - including applications, games, and packets of information - to use on multiple mobile service plans and handsets.

Liz Erk, a director in the mobile PR division at Abelson, will lead the account.
