The labor force may be thought of as the supply of workers for jobs generated by the economy. To be a member of the labor force, an individual must be part of the noninstitutional population, 16 years of age or older, and either working or looking for a job. Members of the Armed Forces are excluded from the civilian labor force, which is discussed here.
Projections indicate that the labor force will not only grow but change in composition during the 1992-2005 period.
