Jul. 11--ORANGE -- Promoting Orange County is the key to boosting the county's economy because it creates buzz, said Mike Barnes, CEO of the McGregor-based Mark Barnes Group.
The company, hired by the Orange Economic Development Corp., teamed up with Austin-based Angelou Economics technology to assess the region's strengths and weaknesses, then come up with a strategy to boost the local economy. A 26-page report identified seven industries that can flourish in Orange County: manufacturing, food processing/packaging, shipbuilding/repair, port-related distribution, retail/restaurants, tourism/hotels and residential development. ...
