Jul. 11--PITTSBURGH - Nomar Garciaparra hit bottom, with a 24-hour wallowing period before starting the long, slow climb back to the top.
"I gave myself one day to sulk," Garciaparra said, referring to the day after he tore his groin in a game in April 2005. "The next morning, I woke up and it was, 'OK, what do I have to do to get back?'"
The injury cost Garciaparra three months, and left him to chase one-year contracts on the free agent market. But he is healthy now, and his sixth All-Star Game appearance is testament to what he has left.
