Jul. 11--So maybe the self-titled "richest grand slam in sports" is a little less rich now. That doesn't mean Saturday's Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs lacks star power. The 12-horse field was drawn Monday for the $1 million Grade II turf race, and it includes Kentucky Derby horses Steppenwolfer and Seaside Retreat - both of whom are inexperienced on turf. On Saturday, trainer Barclay Tagg said he wasn't entering Showing Up, who won the Colonial Turf Cup on June 24 at Colonial Downs. The Turf Cup was the first of the four-race Grand Slam of Grass.
