Jul. 12--A South Florida group seeking to stop Sept. 5 elections for 55 judges in the state, including a new circuit judge in Bay County, moved Tuesday to ensure the Florida Supreme Court does not allow the election to proceed by default.
Marcos Jimenez, a lawyer representing the Miami-Dade County Judicial Nominating Commission, asked the state justices to clarify an order from last week setting deadlines in the case for July 26 -- after qualifying is over for new judicial positions across the state.
