Jul. 13--A fire that killed two Southeast Texas children is an example of why Brett Holloway became a firefighter. On Tuesday, the blaze in the Jasper area killed Kyah Collins, 2, and Kameron Collins, 3.
It was on that same road, about half a mile away, that a house fire killed five children 18 years ago. Holloway's son was just 2 at the time, and he and his wife realized it could have happened to them. "I never realized the volunteer fire department was there because I never needed them and I had never seen them," said Holloway, who now is fire chief of the Lake Rayburn Volunteer Fire Department.
