Sukhoi Log could contain 1 g/t platinum - expert
IRKUTSK. July 13 (Interfax) - The ores of the giant Sukhoi Log gold deposit in Russia's Irkutsk region could be graded at 1 gram/tonne for platinum, Yury Garnik, chief precious metals officer at BaikalROSBANK, told Interfax.
Garnik said laboratory tests carried out by the VostSibNIIGIMS institute indicated this was the case.
He said the deposit contained platinum-group metals in compound form and that the precise grading would not be known until the field was mined. "Technology capable of isolating the platinum in Sukhoi Log's ores on a commercial basis does not yet exist," Garnik said.
