Jul. 13--New development planned for the southern part of Allen County is prompting the Southwest Fire District to seek a tax increase for future expansion.
The department would like to replace its "aging fleet of emergency vehicles" and build a new station around the developing area near the General Motors plant.
Allen County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the proposal next week.
The district provides fire and rescue services to portions of Wayne, Pleasant and Lafayette townships. It also serves the GM plant, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Air Trade Center and the 14/69 Auto Mall. The district's three stations are staffed by 12 ...
