Japanese company Denki Kagaku Kogyo KK is increasing its annual production capacity for spherical silica powder in Singapore by 40% to 11793 t (13 000 tons).
The firm will invest some [yen] 2 billion (about $17 million) to construct two melting furnaces at its Singaporean subsidiary, Denka Advantech Pte Ltd. Current production capacity at the plant is 8165 t (9000 tons) of spherical silica per year.
The furnaces are to begin service by summer 2006.
