Jul. 16--In Litchfield, an area where many renowned authors have made their home, the Litchfield County Writers Project, on the campus of the University of Connecticut at Torrington, has a collection of more than 1,000 books written or illustrated by Litchfield County residents. Many are signed copies or first editions. On Friday, Charles Van Doren, a member of the English faculty at UConn Torrington, author of more than a dozen books, editor of the 20-volume "Annals of America" series and son of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mark Van Doren, will present "Mark Twain: In His Own Words."
