Democratic Alliance MP Eddie Trent was expected to write another letter today to South African envoy Barbara Masekela in his quest to discover if President Thabo Mbeki met Thomson-CSF representatives to facilitate arms deal negotiations.
Trent has persistently dogged the presidency and Masekela, who at the time of the alleged meeting was ambassador to France, for information on whether Mbeki met executives of Thomson-CSF (now called Thales) in Paris while he served as deputy president in 1998.
Masekela is now ambassador to the United States.
