Jul. 17--It takes more than six months for teams to play the 162-game schedule that comprises a Major League Baseball season. But the results of those games are of no consequence when it comes to determining whether the American or National league will get the home-field advantage in the World Series.
That all-important factor in baseball's championship quest comes down to which league won that season's All-Star Game, an exhibition that forcibly includes mediocre players from less-thanmediocre teams, since MLB requires at least one representative from each club.
