Article: The back side of Greenland. (skiing on Angmagssalik Island in Greenland)

I stood in my ski boots atop yet another unnamed Greenlandic mountain and watched my third sunrise of the day. Angmagssalik Island lies on the east coast of Greenland just shy of the Arctic Circle, and because of its northern location, it receives perpetual daylight from mid May through early August. (Conversely, there is a long stretch during the winter of unending nighttime.) When I was there, last June, the sun flopped crazily around the horizon, bobbing about like a beach ball adrift at sea, often dipping behind the mountains but never for a moment resulting in total darkness. During the summer, skiing is available 24 hours a day.

Of course, it's not skiing ...
