Jul. 18--Summer's heat has arrived, bringing with it sunny days at the beach and potentially deadly dangers.Heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke subject people to health risks, said Hal Tyndall, a lieutenant at the New Bern Fire and Rescue Department. "Heat stroke is a truly life-threatening emergency," Tyndall said.The National Weather Service in Newport predicts temperatures in the New Bern area to reach the mid-90s for the rest of the week, peaking on Wednesday at 96 degrees.
