NEW YORK-Caught between the proverbial rock and a hard place, lighting vendors have been raising wholesale prices on virtually all light fixtures.

The increases amount to between 3 percent and 5 percent on certain items and as high as 30 percent on others. While many of the price increases are a direct result of skyrocketing costs of raw materials, they're also attributed to fuel surcharges due to the unprecedented price of oil.

Hardest-hit segments are anything made with solid brass, particularly outdoor lanterns and bath vanity bars, although all lighting contains copper wire.
