Three years ago, David Ortiz was just another transaction. The Minnesota Twins let him go after the 2002 season and the Red Sox signed him, hoping he might be able to deliver a little pop in a limited role. Instead, they ended up with a larger-than-life superstar, known as "Big Papi," who hit 47 home runs last year, finished second in AL MVP voting, and makes fun of just about everyone, including himself.
