Hungarian Finance Ministry forecasts HUF 7.9 bln budget surplus for July

BUDAPEST. JULY 18. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - Hungary's Finance Ministry expects a small surplus of HUF 7.9 bln in the consolidated budget in July, on lower debt service costs and higher tax revenues, Ministry State Secretary Tamas Katona announced Tuesday.

"Due to the cyclical nature of state securities maturity, interest expenses will be low this month, while tax revenues, primarily VAT, will be higher as a result of quarterly payments," Katona told a press conference. "At the same time, we are maintaining our deficit forecast for the year."
